Design Wall Monday

This little cuties are a free paper-piecing pattern, Santa in a Star, offered by Carol Doak and Quilt Life Magazine. Not sure what I am going to do with them, but I like them! Check out Judy's design wall for some great design inspirations.
In the spirit of cleaning out and organizing, I have ironed a pile of scraps, made a spreadsheet of the sizes and shapes I want, and lined up some little containers (clean vegie trays). I am going to follow Michele's lead at Distracted Quilter and cut scraps for 15 minutes a day for the next month or so and see what I can accomplish. It will be great to start a new year with a pile of scraps already cut!

  1. These are very cute. They look like tiles on the wall.

  2. thanks for the links... I saved the cute little paper pieced instructions and checked out the 15 minutes a day concept.

And, I'll ask you too -- how do you store your cut up scraps? I've got the strips in drawers, under control but the squares are floating all over the place and sometimes I remember to grab and use them and sometimes I don't.

The blocks you made with paper piecing are darling. Thanks for sharing..

  3. Those are really cute Santas. What a fun block. I need to manage my scraps too--they are exploding out of multiple boxes and I want them to get into quilts! 15 minutes a day sounds like a great goal.

  5. Good luck getting those scraps cut up. I love to let them pile and then just spend an entire weekend marathon style watching one movie after another and sorting them all out. Feels to good to turn all the leftovers into something useful again. Cute blocks, are three enough for a table runner? Maybe on the diagonal to spread them out.

  6. Wow -- I understand why you like them -- they are winners! I've heard others talk about the 15 minutes a day plan...I may investigate it for myself...someday. LOL! :)

  7. Now that is a good idea! I don't have enough scraps because I am a novice but I can see that scraps accumulate quickly!
