Judy L. at Patchwork Times hosts Design Wall Monday, a UFO Challenge for 2011, and a monthly Monochromatic Project. I have signed up for the UFO challenge, and I have decided to make 6" blocks in the color of the month in the monochromatic project. These blocks will be made from my scraps, in what ever configuration I can make them in. Each month I am going to try to make at least 6 blocks in the chosen color. My tentative plan is to set them in rows by color with white sashings in between each block and each row. We will see how this turns out...
Edited to add: My children are off playing in the snow. When you live in the South, you have to enjoy the snow on those rare occassions you actually get enough to play in. It is supposed to be icy tonight, so they will probably be home from school tomorrow too.
monochromatic...here you come. I am opting out of this challenge. I don't have much yellow and didn't want to buy. I am enjoying seeing everyone else's.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for the challenge. At the end you will have a wonderful rainbow of blocks.
ReplyDeleteOh Amy, I love your idea of working on 6 blocks! I opted out of the challenge because I didn’t think I could do a whole quilt, but this is definitely doable for me, may have to try that... I’ve wanted a color-wheel-like quilt and this would work great. The finished quilt is going to be beautiful – look forward to seeing all the colors together.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to use up different coloured scraps each month!
ReplyDeleteI too agree that you have a great idea. Lets you play along without it being overwhelming.
ReplyDeleteI love your yellow blocks. What a great way to participate in the challenge without churning out an entire quilt every month. Your yellow blocks will go so well with the others as the year goes on.
ReplyDeleteYour row-by-row is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteMixing all the monochromatic colors is a great twist on the challenge--ROY G BIV style, maybe?
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of 6 blocks of each color. I might be able to do that, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat very pretty, pretty yellows!! Your variety of blocks makes it all so interesting.
ReplyDeleteI think you have a great idea for a row quilt!
ReplyDeleteI think you have a very good idea! I think it's nice to participate in any way that makes sense...
ReplyDeleteHi Amy, these blocks look great and I agree with you that it is easier to do blocks, or a scrap quilt month by month. I've got enought UFOs without adding another one each month.
ReplyDeleteCheers

Oooh that's a great idea, I feel very inadequate now as I am only aiming at one block a month :)
ReplyDeleteI love the different blocks I think it's going to look fantastic when you finish.
